"S'il suffitait qu'on s'aime..." What if all it took was a tour by the Quebec superstar to boost Paris' economy? Far from being a utopia, Céline Dion's forthcoming visit to France promises significant economic spin-offs (we're talking about over a billion euros).
Céline Dion's return to the stage is a certainty, and an event awaited by millions of fans worldwide. Between September and October 2026, 10 concerts with worldwide resonance will rock the French capital. The singer is planning her comeback in a "residency" format, in order to keep travel to a minimum; a formula preferred by many artists in recent years. And if this choice allows the superstar to limit energy (and money) expenditure, it also takes care of her health. Céline Dion suffers from Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), an extremely rare and incurable neurological pathology.
The show will take place at La Défense Arena, an indoor venue (the largest in Europe) capable of accommodating over 40,000 fans. Given the rarity of such a show, we expect to see some 400,000 people descend on Paris between September and October. Such an influx of spectators, from the 4 corners of the globe, promises to boost the country's economy significantly.
In addition to their tickets, die-hard fans (and newcomers) will undoubtedly need to set aside a larger budget, covering transport, local travel, accommodation and food. And why not throw in a few tickets to take the time to visit the City of Light? So, in addition to the concert itself, let's count all the expenses associated with the various tourist activities on offer in the capital: museums, the Eiffel Tower, bateaux-mouches, gastronomy, etc.
According to information from French TV channel TF1 and Le Figaro, the star's visit to Paris could bring in over a billion euros. As a reminder, in France, live entertainment generated 2.4 billion euros in spin-offs for 65 million spectators in 2024. According to TF1, the 10 dates of the "S'il suffisait d'aimer" concert alone would account for half of this annual revenue.
