She joins the ranks of collectible figures such as David Bowie, Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Stevie Nicks, Elvis Presley, Gloria Estefan, and Aaliyah. The Miley Cyrus Barbie unveiled its rebellious look on Wednesday, July 1.
The faux leather highlights the iconic silhouette of the new doll from Mattel. A hooded jacket and black heels complete the look. And no, the goal wasn’t to release a Barbie that's “perfect in every way,” but to create a doll that reflects a well-rounded and self-assured artist.
The global pop star—an American singer-songwriter, musician, actress, and producer—isn’t one to mince words. So it’s a Miley Cyrus who is particularly committed to LGBTQ+ rights and mental health that Mattel wanted to honor.
Cyrus, whose influence extends far beyond the world of music, says that “seeing [her] Barbie for the first time is a dream come true,” before adding, “We took our time to perfect every detail.” The star of the famous series “Hannah Montana” was keen to participate in the creative process to ensure the doll would be the most faithful reflection of her visual identity.
As a result, the Miley Cyrus Barbie officially joins the “Signature” collection. According to Mattel’s press release, this prestigious collection serves as a showcase for “icons who define their era.”
The doll is already available at a (suggested) retail price of €77.99.
