Harry and Meghan Markle return to the UK: A summer of reconciliation?

  • Jun 21, 2026 16:41

July may be the month of “reconciliation” between the royal family and Harry, as he plans to make his grand return to the United Kingdom, accompanied by Meghan Markle and their children.

It has been four years since all four of them were last seen together in the United Kingdom. For four years, family relations—particularly between the Duke of Sussex and his father, King Charles III—have been strained. According to the BBC, the planned trip in July will take place as part of the Invictus Games, an event founded by Prince Harry that aims to honor sick or wounded veterans from nearly 25 countries.

At this time, no details have been revealed about a possible meeting between Charles III and his grandchildren. Their last reunion took place in 2022, during Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

What we do know, however, is that the Duke of Sussex has, for some time now, made no secret of his desire to return to a quieter life and reconcile with his family across the Channel. In an interview with the BBC, he said he hoped for a “reconciliation” and expressed his sadness at not being able to show children his homeland.

Perhaps this summer will be a time for healing within the British royal family—who knows?
