Having put her music career on hold, British singer, Adele, is now embarking on a brand-new project: cinema!
In 2024, when she put an end to her residency in Las Vegas, Adele announced that she wanted to fully savor her 'new life' and take an 'incredibly' long break from her musical existence. Aside from her passion for music, she had also made clear her desire to embark on other, equally creative experiences.
The singer will soon be starring in Tom Ford's new film (her third). The director and fashion designer will direct and produce Cry to Heaven, an adaptation of the 1982 novel by American writer Anne Rice. He will also write the screenplay. Set in 18th-century Italy, the film tells the story of Guido, a singer from Calabria, and Tonio, a young nobleman from Venice, both trying to break into the opera world.
Adele will be co-starring in Cry to Heaven with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Nicholas Hoult and Hunter Schafer. Currently in pre-production in Rome and London, the feature film is scheduled for release in late 2026.
