Over 1,000 guests, one of the world's most famous venues — and the reports are starting to back it up.
While Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are keeping their wedding location under wraps, all signs point to them saying “I do” on the first weekend of July at Madison Square Garden, the legendary arena in the heart of Manhattan.
It may have been NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch who leaked the information and gave the rumor a little more weight. During a press conference, while presenting the major upcoming events in New York City, she concluded her list with: "...and maybe even Taylor Swift’s wedding" before clarifying that she was joking. Really?
The main clues
First clue? The couple has been spotted several times in the city, suggesting they may be scouting locations. The second clue directly references the couple’s wishes: a celebration in complete privacy, away from camera flashes and prying eyes. With its underground parking garage and numerous entrances, the Garden seems to be the ideal venue. Furthermore, the police will be able to cordon off the streets all around the building.
The final clue (and not the least significant) comes from sources close to the American media outlets Page Six and TMZ, indicating that the venue chosen by the two superstars was indeed Madison Square Garden. Opened in 1968, it has hosted a parade of legendary artists: Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Janis Joplin, Adele, Johnny Cash, Madonna, and Billy Joel. While this venue usually hosts major music and sporting events, Taylor Swift may temporarily change its purpose.
